Dominic Sibley has set his sights on playing for England after becoming Surrey's youngest ever double centurion at the Oval on Thursday.
The teenage batsman hit an unbeaten 220 in the County Championship Division One game with Yorkshire as he batted for more than nine and a half hours.
For the 18-year-old, simply batting alongside 'the best player in the world' Hashim Amla was a moment to savour and the pair put on 237 for the third wicket.
"I couldn't wait to bat with Hashim Amla at the start of the day," said Sibley. "I really wanted to stick around and bat with him.
"I hadn't batted with him yet and obviously he's the best player in the world so to try and take in as much as you can from him and learn from him was a great experience.
I want to play for England. That's most cricketers' aspiration.
"That was going through my head. Then towards the end I was just trying to bat and see out the day and keep ticking it over."
Whilst not wanting to get ahead of himself, the ambition for Sibley is clear.
"I want to play for England," he said. "That's most cricketers' aspiration.
"This winter we've got the U19 World Cup and I'd love to go to that and hopefully win that - I don't think we've won it in a while. That's short term, I'd love to do that.
"That would be great (to score a century for England at the Oval), that's what dreams are made of. At the moment I'd just like to play for England and if I scored a hundred that would be great as well."
Continuing on Friday morning, Sibley moved to 242 before being dismissed.
