The point does neither side any favours as they continue to languish towards the foot of the Bundesliga table.
Monchengladbach had lost their last four league games heading into the contest, but took the lead on the half-hour mark when Steve Gohouri met Marko Marin's free-kick to nod home.
However, the hosts responded 10 minutes after the interval when Christoph Dabrowski fired into the top corner.
Simon Kaloglu then gave Bochum the lead on 78 minutes when he powered home a header from Christian Fuchs' inch-perfect cross.
Their advantage lasted just two minutes, though, as Thomas Kleine snatched an equaliser and a share of the spoils.
Monchengladbach remain second from bottom in the table, while Bochum are precariously perched just outside the relegation zone.
