QPR hold Coventry at the Ricoh Arena

Championship strugglers Coventry were forced to rue a host of missed chances as they were held 0-0 by Queens Park Rangers at the Ricoh Arena. In a frustrating night for Chris Coleman's Coventry side, Leon Best was guilty of wasting the best chance of the match when he was denied by a fine first half save from Rangers goalkeeper Lee Camp. The result is off little use to either side and leaves Coventry looking nervously over their shoulders as they bid to avoid the drop this season. There was a return for Sky Blues skipper Stephen Hughes along with Michael Doyle and Elliott Ward, while Hoops boss Luigi De Canio named an unchanged line-up.

Domination

And the changes showed as Coventry dominated from the start and were guilty of wasting a succession of excellent first half chances. The home side had the ball in the back of the net in the opening three minutes when Scott Dann headed in a Michael Doyle cross only to be denied by an offside flag. Michael Mifsud and Leon Best then both failed to capitalise as QPR, who had only lost once in six matches prior to kick-off, struggled to get going. Best was again forced to hang his head in shame on 33 minutes as the striker broke through from a long clearance only to be denied by a fine save from Camp.
Improvement
Rangers may have improved dramatically under De Canio but they remain inconsistent and this was a long way short of the performance which saw them tear Stoke apart in the opening half hour of Sunday's 3-0 win. De Canio clearly had stern words with his side at half-time as the Rangers appeared after the interval a far more resolute outfit. However, a goal was not to be as Coventry frustrated their home fans by wasting the majority of possession and the Sky Blues failed to ever truly threaten Camp. Dexter Blackstock came on for the anonymous Patrick Agyemang and Rangers could have even stolen it with two minutes left when Mikele Leigertwood fired narrowly over. Best had a chance to atone for his earlier miss with an overhead kick with seconds remaining but it was not to be and the home side were greeted by a mixture of boos and cheers at the final whistle.
