Vine sent an effort over the bar and later headed straight at Westwood but there was little else to get excited about in the opening 45 minutes.
With the points very much up for grabs the second half was much livelier affair.
The visitors seized the early initiative and Keogh fired straight at Duke before Aron Gunnarsson found the side-netting.
The momentum then swung in Hull's favour and the hosts should have broken the deadlock when substitute Nick Barmby fired wide after being presented which a clear-cut opening after 70 minutes.
The final ten minutes saw plenty of chances at either end.
Duke stood up well to keep out Gunnarsson before Lukas Jutkiewicz fired wide for Coventry.
Bullard and Anthony Gerrard then drilled over for Hull, with Westwood producing great saves to deny Tom Cairney and Robert Koren.
