Chile team-mate insists playmaker is ready for Group H clash

Chile playmaker Jorge Valdivia will be fit to face Switzerland on Monday, according to his team-mate Rodrigo Millar. Valdivia, who plies his trade with Al Ain FC in the United Arab Emirates, is the key string puller in Marcelo Bielsa's side, who opened their World Cup with a win over Honduras. Following the 1-0 success, Valdivia had a muscle complaint and it had been reported in his homeland that the 26-year-old was set to miss his country's Group H game with the Swiss. Midfield compatriot Millar insists that is not the case and claims Valdivia's presence in their second game of the finals is a mere formality. He said: "Jorge suffered a blow to one of his thighs but he should have absolutely no problem in playing on Monday." Meanwhile, Chile defender Gary Medel admits the occasion of his World Cup debut nearly got the better of his emotions as he lined up to face the Hondurans. "I really felt like crying," claimed the Boca Juniors man.
