Struggling Carlisle were no match for Stockport as they went down to a 3-0 defeat at Edgeley Park.
Carl Baker netted twice to leave the Cumbrians without a win in 12 games.
Stockport just about had the better of the opening 45 minutes and deservedly went in at the break a goal up. However, Carlisle ought to have opened the scoring after just three minutes when Graham Kavanagh blazed over from 15 yards.
The hosts went in front after eight minutes when Baker pounced on a loose ball before firing home low into the corner via a slight deflection off Danny Livesey. Tommy Rowe almost doubled the lead but Ben Alnwick produced an excellent save.
Carlisle hit back with Danny Graham scooping a shot over following a poor back header from Johnny Mullins, then just before the break Baker fired a powerful shot straight at Alnwick.
Stockport went two up after 63 minutes with a cracker from Stephen Gleeson. The young Irish midfielder crashed home a great shot into the top corner from 20 yards. Seven minutes later it was three when Baker stabbed home a shot from just inside the box.
