Ross' motivation to become a professional player is easy to measure. Every week, he drives 3.5 hours in each direction to train with the Nike Academy.
"I'm looking for somewhere in London to live at the moment," says the Cheshire-based striker "but until I find a place, I'll do what I have to do to get to training."
It's been a long, challenging journey for Ross to get this far. A striker with a clinical eye for goal and a rampaging physical presence, Ross has all the natural ability in the world, but his versatility as a youth player hampered his development.
"Because I could play defence, on the wing, in midfield I was seen as a bit of a utility player. But when I nailed down my place as a striker I started working with coaches to develop those key skills."
The Academy is helping Ross to progress those key skills. "It's been amazing to be back in a professional set-up. I have total belief in my ability, but it's great that others do too, especially coaches of this calibre."
Their belief has been justified too, after Ross scored on his Academy debut. "Scoring was massive, I'd worked so hard for it so that was a really good buzz, it helped me settle down, get into the game and show what I can do."
Keep watching to see just what this promising striker can do.
